Learn about the CA/SCORE Urban Entrepreneur Initiative (UEI)
Crispus Attucks (CA), provider of comprehensive education, human and
economic development services, and Susquehanna SCORE, the region’s ongoing free new business start-up education and mentoring service, have been funded by the York County Community Foundation to work with York City women and minorities to create neighborhood-based businesses. CA and SCORE have surveyed city residents to learn the business preferences of many York neighborhoods. As a result, you can receive the training needed to start a business preferred in a local neighborhood.
Step 1: UEI Training
We will train you to develop a business model canvass during four two-hour
sessions on Saturdays in May. They will be held from 10-Noon at Crispus
Attucks, 605 S. Duke Street, York, PA 17401 on May 5, 12, 19 and 26. We
encourage you to bring family, friends, church members, neighbors and others to
learn about this new venture. The meeting will spell out the details of the
Urban Entrepreneurship Initiative. Learn which businesses York City residents
most want to see in their neighborhoods.
Step 2: Pitch Your UEI Business
At the last class on May 26, you will be invited to make a “neighborhood newbusiness” presentation. A panel of judges will perform an off-site review of the
presentations. They and CA and SCORE will select up to three neighborhood-based
businesses for further development.
Selected businesses will be notified by June 15, 2018.
